A bunch of drawers that draw.
English Coast (Limestone cliffs near Dover?)
Study for a larger work. Ballpoint pen and watercolour. (Line and Wash) A real mini. 6 Cm X 10 Cm
One of the best I have done IMHO

Comment by J L Anil Kumar on July 6, 2012 at 1:06pm One more reason could be that the green on top of the cliffs is darker than the green in the foreground. If you reverse it, it could give more depth. Or the green on top of the cliffs was cooler. You are right the lines on the sea surface add to the depth. Further, the top of the cliff at the right is above the top of the cliff at the left in your case. That is perhaps the biggest contributor IMHO.
Thanks for the Fav Shashank
Comment by Shashank B L on July 6, 2012 at 10:08am same picture i drew looks 2 dimensional, yours looks 3 dimensional...looking for reasons why your picture depicts depth...one of the reasons could be the detailing of the sea in your work!

Comment by Nandita P. on July 4, 2012 at 10:38am Great! A quick sketch that gives you a feel of the final work.
Comment by J L Anil Kumar on July 4, 2012 at 8:39am Thanks for such a beautiful description of the D I P ( :) ) dada. Perfectly said. Note the cloud like squiggles above the right part of the cliff that is the cliff's top outline drawn wrongly and left alone with no apologies! (Cant do much either - ball pen lines, after all)
Thanks Charu

Comment by Prosenjit Roy on July 3, 2012 at 7:19pm Well, this definitely is a 'thinking' sketch... in which the artist is least bothered with outcome, but is jotting down 'points'... learning the structural nuances of the scene so to say, to be used later in a more 'finished' piece. This, therefore is like a drawing in progress... fascinating!
