Graphite Love

Pencil kissing graphite is one of the most satisfying experiences an artist can claim to have. No other medium is as versatile or can attain the levels of sensitivity that the humble Graphite does. Welcome to Graphite Love. This group is moderated by Soman Patnaik.See More

Which of the following describes you best?
Illustrator
Your favorite drawing media
I enjoy working with a graphite pencil, pen and ink and watercolours. I also work on digital media sometimes. Mostly artweaver, inkscape, Blender and Wings3d.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a Creativity Consultant. I work with companies to help them institute creativity and innovation processes into their daily routine.

I am also an illustrator, and have been drawing from as long back as I can remember. I love drawing so much that I also set up Pencil Sauce, an illustration studio in Bangalore and I still try to introduce a little bit of drawing in my day to day work.

I set up Pencil Jammers as a space where other career professionals like me (actually, just about anyone but evil dictators) can participate in collaborative drawing environments.

Abstracting and the Abstract

Posted on February 12, 2012 at 9:30am 14 Comments

After Sketchbook saturday, Vidhu brought up an interesting question." Why do people abstract?" I was telling him about the abstract attention-seeking work of the artist who does not know how to draw, and the abstraction of artists who have gone beyond exploring realism. Prabal then articulates it beautifully. "There is a huge difference between Abstracting and the Abstract!"

The conversation then turned to…

Pencil Jammers has grown rapidly over the past few months. Here then is a primer on how to find your way around, and how you can make this site… Continue

The Genius that was Sargent

Posted on July 2, 2010 at 7:30pm 2 Comments

John Singer Sargent was an American painter (January 12, 1856 – April 14, 1925) and a keen observer of life. I first came across Sargent while I was researching Spanish Dancers for a project. Singer's keen eye amazingly breaks down complex visuals to simple pools of colour without breaking the illusion. They are startlingly lifelike.…

Thanks for your interest. I have been enjoying my holidays, and I went without computer, so I have been disconnected for a looooong time... I'll come back in a few days (I still have some free days).
I'll have too much Jammers works to enjoy and comment upon my return, because I have drawn or painted very little :(

See you later...
