195. Delicious

The Daily Sketching Challenge is back :)

Today's topic is : Delicious!

"A fruit a day keeps rusty skills away" Go ahead and challenge yourself to draw/paint/doodle a fruit or anything yummy for the day.

Some Ideas - It can be a still life composition with many elements, a single fruit with emphasis on Composition - like the one Paula Modershon Becker has done. Perhaps even a pure color based composition, so the emphasis is on the fruit colour and composition.

Some inspirational paintings of fruits by master artist.

  • I did a study of two oranges with water colors.I didn't think much.I want another color. so I took red cloth.3275417064?profile=original

    • This is lovely work Kiran! Its great to see so the colours used, all complimenting each other. Beautiful!

  • These were done live during a demo class few weeks back.. I thought it suited the subject

3275416988?profile=original3275417104?profile=original3275417030?profile=originalAll of these are soft pastels. In the latest one - pomegranate - I decided to try a blended effect with more purple than browns for shadows.

  • Okay, looking at the three masters' works on this page mine is frivolous.  Just a watercolor -  I took the operative word  'Delicious' and it does have fruits only sliced ones, on a tart.  And also uploaded a day late.

    • That tart looks yummmy... I think your's was truest to the theme :)

Beautiful, soft, painting... Nandita. I love how light is translucing through those yellow-white petals.

Regarding one day late... yes, I think this needs be spaced up a bit. Too good to make it yesterday's theme so quickly!

    • Thanks alot, Prosenjit.

  • I painted this tired orange in watercolour.

Since tomatoes are technically fruit (I think), I drew this one on spinach leaves.

Then I tried a watercolour version.

This was a lot of fun. Looking forward to the next one.

    • last one looks very colorful !nice study!
