I am a retired educator who has been trying to ramp up my creative output through new avenues such as creating "keeper art" in a sketchbook (as opposed to using a sketchbook mainly for planning paintings). For many years, I have dabbled mainly with painting in watercolor. I feel more comfortable with a brush in hand than with drawing implements. My emerging sketchbook practice has taught me that I can't ignore drawing if I want to fully express myself.
