This is one of the two surviving windmills in Montmartre , Paris, the other one is the moulin rouge. It's now accompanied by a cafe. Montmartre is a hill which earlier was on the outskirts of the city. Windmills were a plenty here , their main purpose being to produce plaster of Paris which was used in making the roofs of buildings in Paris..Montmartre being a cheap place to live in in the nineteenth century , was home to the impressionists, who made it famous! Now very much a part of the main city, it's a tourist hub, housing the sacre coeur, Musee Salvador Dali , Musee de Montmartre ..
