Prosenjit Roy: I think there is a difference between critiquing a work and pointing out some obvious technical flaws. And like I said earlier, sometimes I can see that somethings wrong but cant pinpoint it. So I am glad you are pointing those out and helping me improve! And in that sense, the detailed appreciation and comparison with other works also helps. Keep Babbling :) its fruitful
Aditi, this is fantastic! I'm so, so glad (and honored) that my humble thoughts had contributed in some little way to the changes in this picture... The figures are immediately noticeable, now that you've raised contrast and saturation, added details to the foreground, from where the eye slowly travels to the far horizon, gradually taking in everything. This shows much better structure and flow. In fact (continued below)...
... I can now compare it with the Millet below (thanks for posting), and see how he has used the same techniques to disengage the figures from the horizon, which seems far, far away, thus imparting great depth and focus to the painting. His use of contrast and color (notice the bright complementary shades on the gleaners' head, as compared to the muted background) so cleverly arrests the viewer's eye without being obvious. As regards what you said about Mr Aspevig and realism... all I can say is, if painting the way you paint makes you happy, that's all that matters. Never worry about 'labels', the less time one devotes to labeling/pigeonholing art into categories, the more time he (or she) will have to develop his expressive skills. Besides, criticism is by nature analytical, and to analyze something one needs to have something created in the first place. Without that beautiful painting you have created, my so called criticism would've been non-existent, and therefore, I (the critic) must be grateful to you (the artist) for giving me a reason to exist :)
"Now I am able to work on composition and perspecitve and have my own colour schemes too" - this is most important! A reference pic is just that, a reference. You create your own scene out of that, imagining yourself being present there, as if in person... with the wind on your face, tugging at your hair, the dewy grass wetting your sandals, crows flapping overhead, the voice of the gleaners softly carrying across, along with the scent of freshly-cut grain. That's what I try to do anyway, as if I'm in the physical presence of the person/figure I'm portraying... and then you express that experience in whatever visual language you speak most eloquently.

Prosenjit Roy: I have always liked the works of Alfred Sisley, he is very similar to Monet and I often confuse his work with Monet's. Wonder why he is less acclaimed.
Clyde aspevig, I had not seen before, glad you provided the link. I particularly liked his introduction of himself, since most of my work borders on realism, I wonder if I am a lesser artist if I am a realist. This is self assuring :)
Prosenjit Roy: I am very glad that the paintings take you to the place! When I started painting, it was initially copying works of other artists of from photographs and my primary goal would be to get the drawing and colours right. Then I moved to painting from pictures I clicked to paint from or from life (seldom). To a person who can appreciate art, its easy to like or dislike something, but difficult to pin point what the problem is. In my case, the composition was and is a problem. Now I am able to work on composition and perspecitve and have my own colour schemes too . This is the refernce pic..
And this are paintings looking at which, I have altered the compositionBalance in colours is something I have been not paying any attentions to. So thanks for pointing that out. ..
